Marilyn Manson

Sunday, June 6

2026 has therefore been the year of the return of Marilyn Manson to the European continent with a festival tour that included stops in France and the Festival de Nîmes. A date that confirmed the artist's popularity as well as his renewed activity following the release of  "One Assassination Under God - Chapter 2", his 13th album. For over thirty years, the provocative aspects of the Manson persona have sparked genuine fascination, but also quite a few questions. When you decide to name one of your albums "Antichrist Superstar" , you inevitably face the wrath of a certain segment of America that is supposedly "self-righteous." Whether or not you subscribe to his "messages," you cannot deny that, since the 90s, Marilyn Manson has established himself as a striking, albeit controversial, yet influential figure in modern rock. On stage, in an atmosphere that is often dark and gothic, MM delivers a highly theatrical, intense, and raw—if not brutal—show that sometimes takes on the appearance of sacrilege in the eyes (and ears) of some.

One thing is certain: Marilyn Manson is unsettling, but can also provoke thought when he addresses topics like mental health, for example. As Marion Dupont wrote in the conclusion of her review of the Nîmes concert published on the website Radio Metal : " Should we forget the shadows and controversies surrounding Marilyn Manson? Certainly not. But judging solely by this evening at the Arena of Nîmes, it is hard to deny the obvious. The artist was there, fully immersed, in complete possession of his powers, and facing an audience of rare fervor."
